Stanbury Village School is a thriving, small school situated two miles west of Haworth on the edge of open moorland.

The school is a half-form entry primary with 90 children on roll. Many of the children come from Stanbury and an increasing number from surrounding villages.

There has been a school in the village since 1805, when a Charitable School was founded, offering free tuition to local children. The present school building was opened in 1883, with temporary classrooms added in the recent past to provide increased classroom space. Between 2001 and 2002 the temporary classrooms were removed and the school extended and refurbished.

The staff currently comprises four full-time teachers, head teacher, nursery nurse, teaching assistants and administrative support.

The school's OFSTED inspection describes Stanbury as a very good school (see the Ofsted Report page and link to the Ofsted site for further information), making favourable comments about all aspects of teaching and learning, and our family atmosphere. A copy of this report is available from on the Ofsted site, or from school.
