Foundation Stage

At Stanbury Village School, our Foundation Stage plays a pivotal role in laying the groundwork for our pupils' educational journeys. We are proud to offer a 15-place Nursery within the school, providing both 15-hour and 30-hour provision for 3- and 4-year-olds. Children become eligible for admission to our Nursery the term following their third birthday, ensuring they receive a high-quality early education experience.

In our Nursery, we create an engaging atmosphere where children can explore, play, and learn through a variety of hands-on experiences. Our dedicated staff members are trained to foster a love for learning, encouraging curiosity and creativity in every child. Through play-based learning, we aim to develop essential skills such as communication, social interaction, and problem-solving. Our curriculum is aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, ensuring that each child's individual needs and interests are met.

Nursery places are allocated by the school based on our Nursery Admissions Policy. Given the popularity of our Nursery, we encourage interested families to arrange a visit or have their child added to our Nursery Waiting List by contacting the School Office. This ensures that we can accommodate as many children as possible while maintaining our high standards of care and education.

As children progress to Reception, we build upon the strong foundations established in Nursery. Our Reception class focuses on enhancing literacy and numeracy skills through structured activities, including daily phonics sessions, as outlined in the DfE's Reading Framework. We prioritise a balance of teacher-led and child-initiated learning, allowing pupils to develop independence while receiving the support they need to thrive. Our goal is to ensure that every child leaves the Foundation Stage with a strong sense of self-confidence, readiness for school, and a lifelong enthusiasm for learning.

By fostering positive relationships with parents and caregivers, we create a collaborative environment that supports each child's development. We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential for nurturing our pupils' growth and ensuring their success as they move forward in their educational journey.

In summary, our Foundation Stage at Stanbury Village School is committed to providing a high-quality early education experience that prepares children for future learning while ensuring their well-being and happiness.
